Resumen
En el presente trabajo se realiza una investigación cuantitativa de los Recursos Humanos en Patología en Argentina.
En una prmera etapa se describen las características generales de la especialidad, la formación de estos especialistas, el campo de acción y la actividad específica del patólogo dentro del sistema de atención médica.
Objetivos: Evaluar en esta rama específica si el número de RRHH es adecuado o no a las necesidades de la población, o si los problemas de empleo que hoy los afecta se deben a una deficiente organización del sistema de atención médica.
Discusión: En diferentes foros es frecuente que se hable de exceso de médicos, sin embargo no existe una opinión homogénea, en los distintos países, acerca de cuál sería el número adecuado de profesionales médicos. En la revisión bibliográfica realizada se observó que solo se evalúa el número de profesionales en relación al número de habitantes, sin considerar otros indicadores sanitarios.
Conclusiones: Se determinó que el número de patólogos tiene una distribución heterogénea en las distintas provincias argentinas. Además, se plantea si los problemas de trabajo que afectan a los médicos en genreal y a los patólogos en particular, están determinados por un exceso de profesionales, o bien, por una subutilización de estos recursos debido a un sistema de salud ineficiente.
Abstract
In the present work, a quantitative research regarding Human Resources in the field of Pathology in Argentina is made.
During its first stage the general characteristics of the speciality, the training of the specialists, their field of work and the specific activity of the pathologist within the medical attention system are described.
Objectives: To evaluate if the amount of Human Resources in this specific area meets the requirements of the population or not, or if the lack of employment which affects them is due to a defficient organization of the medical attention system.
Discussion: In different forums, it is frequent to make reference to an excess of physicians, however there is not a common opinion in different countries as to which the adequate number of physicians would be. In the bibliography consulted, it was observed that only the number of physicians in relation to the number of inhabitants is evaluated without taking into consideration other sanitary indicators.
Conclusions: It was established that the number of pathologists has a heterogeneous distribution throughout the different argentine provinces. Besides, the issue whether the problems related to the lack of employment affecting physicians in general and pathologists in particular are caused by an excess of proffesionals or by an underutilization of these resources due to an inefficient health system is also arised.
